STEM-H SSS Grant Aid

A limited amount of grant aid is available to provide additional financial support to students who meet the grant aid eligibility requirements.

STEM-H SSS Grant Aid Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for grant aid, our funding regulations require that you:
  • Be an active STEM-H SSS program participant
  • Be in your first or second year of college
  • Be receiving a Federal Pell grant
  • Have an unmet financial need as determined by the NMSU Financial Aid Office
Additionally, you must:
  • Be enrolled full time (12 hrs or more) for the current semester
  • Have a minimum unmet financial need of $600 or more
  • Be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or higher
  • Have an Academic Goal Plan for the current semester on file. Participants should contact their assigned STEM-H SSS mentor to complete this Goal Plan.
  • Complete a minimum three hours of community services (service can be done via NMSU’s Big Event or at any other community organization)
  • Have attended at least ONE STEM-H SSS Leadership Workshop during the current semester (check the STEM-H SSS workshop flyer for Leadership Workshops.)

Selection:

  • STEM-H SSS staff will review each participants file to see if they meet the eligibility requirements for the aid.
  • Awardees will be notified via email with a request to complete a financial literacy workshop via Canvas by a given deadline that will be provided within the email. To get credit for this workshop, you must watch the video and complete the quiz.
  • Once the awardee has watched the workshop video and completed the quiz, they will be asked to meet with the STEM-H SSS Academic Program Coordinator to take a photo, sign a media release form, and provide a brief statement about how the STEM-H SSS program has helped him/her be successful.
